A new development that has been brewing for years is finally set to break ground in November 2024. The Astros Entertainment District will be the latest attraction in Downtown Houston next to Minute Maid Park. The building is set to be a seventeen-story hotel with three hundred rooms available to locals and visitors looking for a fun getaway inside the loop. Some of the special features will include a three-level game viewing area, and a club level walkway that takes visitors directly to Minute Park during local MBL games. There will be bars and restaurants to explore along with multiple large screens to watch the latest baseball, basketball, and football games in action. Astros lovers will love the space made for indoor tailgating, an especially helpful idea for avid fans who are sometimes derailed from pregame fun due to unpredictable weather.
In a statement with the official MLB website last year, senior vice president and general counsel, Giles Kibbe spoke on his vision of Astros Entertainment District. “What we want is for fans to go to an area long before the ballgames, stay late after the games, have a lot of fans there watching during the games. Not just Astros games but Rockets and Texans.”
The project is predicted to cost more than fourteen million dollars. One of the main funders is Astros owner Jim Crane who has wanted to build this dream for several years. One of the architect companies, Crane, will be working with is HKS, Inc. Some of their most notable works include constructing the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tx and the Atlantis Paradise Island Hotel in the Bahamas. With a long list of impressive projects, the Astros Entertainment District is sure to be a beautiful site with HKS, Inc’s input. We’re eight months away from the anticipated groundbreaking. In that time, the project team is busy deciding on their brand’s design and other final details.
