This 18 track project has been well received by followers and critics across all platforms. Known for his melodious hums and deep metaphorical lyrics, Cudi took on a different approach this time around with heavy bass bangers and classic bars carrying listeners through eighteen tracks of vibrant energy.
The first track grabs listeners’ attention with a scene from the movie, Waterboy, that really sets the tone for Cudi’s persona “Willis.” Long time listeners have heard snippets of this personality in the ad libs of previous albums, but are now given full production of this alter ego on the lighthearted comedic track ‘Willis’ featuring Chip Tha Ripper.
“Diamonds Lights and Fast Cars” gives mellow vibes that doubles down with Wiz Khalifa’s signature calming flow adding to the energy. Cudi’s social media has been flooded with love for the track “Chunky” that showcases a rich production saturated in bass and creativity.
The album offers a new age feel to the sounds old Cudi fans have long appreciated. The track, “Everybody Like,” gives a grungy sound topped with sixteen bars by Pusha T. “Electrowave Baby 2.0” offers bright, complex electronic sounds that are sure to get dancers jumping out of their seats.
Kid Cudi has collaborated with many notable artists over the years; the best yet has to be this latest collab with Bone Thugs N Harmony’s Layzie Bone and Krayzie Bone on “I Just Wanna Get.” Their harmonies are undeniably smooth over a soft beat that gives the perfect overlay of Bone Thugs’ classic sound to Cudi’s tranquil style.
Overall, Insano Nitro Mega is a thrilling album with a range of moods fit for any occasion. In recent interviews, Cudi has expressed his intention to make good music that everyone can jam to and party hard with; this second album definitely sets the tone for that vision.
