Imagine if I had posed a question at the start of the season: which NFL team do you think had the best shot at staying undefeated through the first seven weeks? I bet most fans would instantly say the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s a no-brainer. It’s hard to argue against a team that can win in multiple ways. The team has an incredible knack for winning in any scenario—close games that keep fans on the edge of their seats, thrilling comebacks, and dominating blowouts. Whether their roster is at full strength or hampered by injuries, they find ways to win. They win when their offense struggles, and the defense plays well, and vice versa. It doesn’t matter if they enter as the favorites or the underdogs; they adapt and conquer. In a thrilling twist this season, the Chiefs faced off against the San Francisco 49ers as 1.5-point underdogs. They stepped onto the 49ers’ home field and played as if they were favored to win.
The game kicked off with the 49ers taking an early lead, going up 3-0. However, the tide quickly turned as the Chiefs seized control, outpacing San Francisco 14-3 in an electrifying second quarter. The 49ers fought back in the third, narrowing the gap to 14-12, igniting hopes for a comeback. But in the final quarter, the Chiefs unleashed their full power, racking up 14 points while holding the 49ers to just 6. The match concluded with a decisive score of 28-18, showcasing Kansas City’s dominance.
The Chiefs are now 6-0 and despite them being undefeated, Patrick Mahomes still believes that his team could be playing better.
“I don’t want to say it doesn’t come easily because we’re winning games against good teams by a good amount of points and that’s not easy for the NFL,” said Mahomes who completed 16 of 27 passes for 154 yards and 2 interceptions. “But I just don’t think it’s normal for what you’ve seen from us because there’s not a lot of passing touchdowns. There’s been a lot of turnovers, especially by me. So, I think it’s just showing the versatility of our team. It’s not just about me, it’s not just about the stats and the light show and stuff like that. It’s about playing team football. I believe that if we continue to work we’ll get better offensively throwing the ball down the field. Until then it’s nice to know that we have a great running game, we have a great defense and we’re able to execute whenever the time comes to win football games.”
Despite not throwing a touchdown, Mahomes took matters into his own hands in the fourth quarter. With sheer determination, he dashed through the defense, bulldozing over Malik Mustapha to score a spectacular rushing touchdown. He credits his “dad bod” for the help.
“I was trying to absorb the hit because I knew I was going to be right there in the end zone,” said Mahomes. “And that dad body man. I had enough weight on me where he went down. So, it wasn’t like I was necessarily trying to seek out contact. I was trying to absorb it and get in the end zone and just ended up looking good for me.”
Next week, the Chief will continue their quest for their third straight Super Bowl as they will face the 2-5 Raiders on October 27.
In the latest buzz, the countdown to the Nov. 5 trade deadline has ignited some thrilling action as teams scramble to bolster their rosters. Both the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills made bold moves by bringing in star wide receivers, but it appears that only one of these teams is reaping the rewards. The Jets traded for Aaron Rodgers’ buddy Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, but it was to no avail. The Jets still got obliterated by the Pittsburg Steelers 37-15. Adams finished with three catches for 30 yards, tying Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson with a team-high nine targets. Adams blames the
“Just didn’t execute in the opportunities or in the moments that we had to potentially put the ball in the end zone or finish a drive or get three, whatever it was,” Adams told reporters after the loss. “We just didn’t execute, didn’t finish. That’s been the underlying thing with this team this year.”
Next week, the Jets will have another chance to justify this blockbuster trade when they take on the 1-6 New England Patriots.
On the other hand, the Bills traded for Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns and he looked like hit fits right in to the Bills’ system. Cooper played only 19 snaps in Buffalo’s 34-10 blown out win over the Tennessee Titans, but he was effective. The the seven-time 1,000-yard receiver caught four passes for 66 yards and one score.
After his debut, Cooper talked about how Allen impressed him after connecting for their first live passes.
“It was very impressive,” Cooper said. “He’s a great player. Had the opportunity to watch him obviously through the television for quite some time now. He had his, I believe, his 100th start [Sunday]. Seems like he had 100 amazing performances. I guess this was no different. He went out there and did his thing like he usually does, but he’s a phenomenal player, for sure.”
The Buffalo Bills may have lost key players like Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis this season, but the fans are buzzing with excitement about the potential of Cooper stepping in as their new top receiver. Against all odds, the Bills have managed to impress on the field, leaving fans optimistic about their playoff aspirations. With Cooper addressing some crucial offensive questions, anticipation is building as they prepare to face the 4-3 Seahawks next week. Can this revamped offense keep the momentum going? Only time will tell!
