Houston Celebrates a weekend packed with events for locals and tourists
As the University of Michigan celebrates its decisive 34-13 victory over Washington the city of Houston can also celebrate hosting the two teams with a successful weekend packed full of for the College Football Playoff National Championship.
While the game between the Huskies and the Wolverines was the focal point of the week there were so many options that Houstonians and tourists had the opportunity to participate in. The George R Brown Convention Center was open for the three-day weekend, offering autograph signings, games, clinics, and band performances. One of the highlights of the week was the AT&T Playoff Playlist concerts, where fans could preregister for free and attend a variety of offerings. There was a concert for every age group and demographic with KIDZ BOP on Friday, Latto and Jack Harlow on Saturday, and Megan Moroney, Jake Owen and Jon Pardi on Sunday.
The city also held a star-studded event at the sprawling downtown entertainment complex, The Post. While the other events were open to the public this was an exclusive event, gathering creators, athletes, and business owners to come out and view a performance from platinum-selling recording artists, The All-American Rejects.
Professional boxer Alycia Baumgardner, former NFL players Dez Bryant and Desmond Howard, TikToker Charles Brockman, social media influencer Brittany Seahorn, Netflix’s Love is Blind couple Colleen Reed and Matt Bolton, and more all joined in on the celebration sponsored by Allstate.
The All-American Rejects, who just finished their first headlining tour after a 6-year hiatus returned back to Houston and The Post complex having just been at the 713 Music Hall in October. Guests were not only invited to experience the concert but also got to participate in several themed interactive experiences like football friendship bracelets all while dining on light bites like the sweet treats from the custom churro station.
“This is my first time in Houston,” exclaimed party attendee Keith Jemison “but if the city is always like this I’ll definitely be back.”
For Houston, a city continuously working on increasing tourism and the economic boom that it brings, that’s the ultimate goal.
