Imagine yourself at the age of seventeen, excited with anticipation for what you feel may be the most important day of your youthful life. You and you parental guardian scour the department stores looking for something dazzling. Ahh, eureka! You have found the most foudroyant outfit for your senior prom. Instantly you know that without this your night will be inconceivable. Its the last one left on the rack, you instantaneously snatch it only to be jilted by the size of it. Understanding that your curvy callipygian figure is not what most manufactures design clothing for. AHHHH!!! The anguish! Now there are a few choices here, either become dilapidated by allowing your senior prom dreams to fall you into depression, or find a tailer and here is where you discover the community that is inclusive to those whom figure ranges outside of the of the 12 and below.
As a stylist for the past 15 years, Ms Kimberly Williams founder of CURVchella, has been able to hone in on those size 12 and up find something that is fashionable and properly form fitting. The struggle with finding clothes for those sizes is that a lot of fashion designers don’t make their clothes in those sizes.
“Sizes 0-12 are celebrated everyday in each department store and sizes 12 and up don’t get the attention they deserve.”
The City of Houston Recognized Ms. Kimberly Williams’ efforts and celebrated Aug 5th as CURVchella Day! Williams planned the shopping expo and a prodigious amount of all-inclusive events for those whom wanted to experience more black owned businesses in the city of Houston. The event was hosted at The Ranch Office located on the westside of Houston. A brilliant Texas-Inspired co-working space that provided the vendors with enough space for patrons to browse.
CURVchella is not only an event that celebrates women of all sizes but a community that is confident in their own bodies and in the clothing they wear.
